Aerospace Support and Auxiliary Equipment: Enabling Aircraft Operations on the Ground
Aircraft operations depend not only on airborne systems but also on a wide range of support and auxiliary equipment used on the ground. These systems assist with aircraft maintenance, inspection, servicing, and preparation before and after flights.
Support equipment includes tools and machinery used by maintenance crews to inspect aircraft components and ensure they meet operational standards. This equipment may include hydraulic test stands, aircraft jacks, power units, and diagnostic devices used to evaluate avionics and mechanical systems. These tools allow technicians to safely access and service aircraft components that would otherwise be difficult to reach.
Auxiliary equipment also plays a key role in preparing aircraft for flight. Systems such as ground power units supply electrical energy to aircraft while they are parked, allowing onboard electronics to operate without using the aircraft’s engines. Air conditioning units, fuel servicing vehicles, and hydraulic service carts are also commonly used during ground operations.
